Vice President, Innovation & Design – Seating
On October 1, 2016, Richard was appointed vice president of global innovation and design at Adient. He is based in Burscheid, Germany and oversees five technical centres that focus on innovation and design globally.
Prior to this role, Richard was the VP for global industrial design strategy and execution for Yanfeng Automotive Interiors, and spent his first 15 years with Johnson Controls Automotive group, leading the industrial design and advanced concepts, mostly in Asia.
In 1987, Richard obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in transportation design from the ArtCenter College of Design, in Pasadena, USA.
Before joining Johnson Controls in 2000, Richard spent 13 years with Ford Motor Company, leading the North American small car design studio, as well as leading Ford’s global craftsmanship organisation for three years.
