Founded in 1972, Alcantara represents one of the leading Made in Italy brands. Registered trademark of Alcantara S.p.A and the result of unique and proprietary technology, Alcantara® is a highly innovative material offering an unparalleled combination of sensory, aesthetic, and functional qualities. Thanks to its extraordinary versatility, Alcantara is the chosen material for leading brands in numerous specialist fields: fashion and accessories, the automotive industry, interior design, home décor and consumer electronics. These characteristics, together with a serious and proven commitment to the use of sustainable materials, allow Alcantara to express and define a contemporary lifestyle that respects the environment.
Alcantara has analysed, reduced and offset all CO2 emissions linked to the company, and in 2009 it was certified carbon neutral. Then, in 2011, this certification was extended to include the entire life cycles of Alcantara products in a cradle-to-grave analysis, including use and disposal. To document the company’s journey in this field, Alcantara conducts and publishes an annual sustainability report, certified by Deloitte and available to read on the company website.
Headquartered in Milan, Alcantara also has production facilities and a research department in Nera Montoro in the heart of Italy’s Umbria region (Terni).

Standex Engraving Group, the leading global supplier of surface texturing, now offers creative design through its Design Hub- Architexture. This offers the ability to develop surface textures that will enhance and underpin the unique design DNA of an OEM’s products; an interactive creative toolbox for design development of creative textures and finishes previously not available.
The Standex / Mold-Tech® team, working with OEM designers, enables production and visualization on prototype properties for time line management reviews. Using exclusive Standex processes, these textures can then be delivered in production via moulds, rollers, plates, shells and direct laser engraving, resulting in the best perceived quality.
Design Architexture is a new offering to the design community to enable the development of unique, brand specific and also geometry specific surface textures. The architexture design team will collaborate with the OEM designers, reviewing the OEM design brief, and will then develop 3D texture samples that can be produced extremely quickly to give the designer a true form to evaluate.
Verification The texture can then be applied to clay models, ureol/ren board properties, prototype substrates to enable senior management evaluation.
Produce The developed texture can be delivered in production on all surfaces within a vehicle through the 30 global facilities of Standex Engraving, with multiple processes such as laser engraving on rolls, moulds, and shells.
