Since its establishment in 2006, GAC Design has been internationally recognized for its competency in automotive design and innovation. At the GAC R&D Center, GAC Design has been creating world-class automotive designs for a series of concept and production vehicles, effectively supporting the fast growth of GAC Group (Guangzhou Automotive Group Co. GAC Design Guangzhou was established in 2006 and has grown from zero into a strong team of over 300 employees coming from different places in China and around the world. The Guangzhou headquarters has established a complete automotive design process and operation system that is able to undertake a broad range of tasks from advanced exploration to production. With forward thinking and open mind, GAC Design is dedicated to creating high quality original designs and be competitive at an international level.

Advanced Design Chief Designer

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for planning advanced design direction and proposing design strategy
  • Manage high quality output for advanced design projects from concept to production release
  • Manage effective implementation of design tasks including design quality control, solving technical issues and coordinating domestic and international design tasks
  • Implement training and development plans for subordinates

Qualifications:

  • 3+ OEM concept design development projects
  • Strong innovative thinking, research and strategy planning skills
  • Outstanding judgment and design quality control capability
  • Strong communication and team coordination skills
  • Fluent English communication skills preferred

Exterior Component Design Senior Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the team to develop the design strategy of exterior components design, and coordinate with other departments to accomplish design tasks
  • Responsible for planning the brand’s design trends for exterior components
  • Control quality of exterior components design
  • Coordinate and manage design tasks – both domestic and overseas
  • Coordinate and solve technical problems during the design development process
  • Lead and mentor junior designers and improve the professional skills of the team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or above in transportation design, industrial design or related
  • 8+ years of automotive exterior design work experience
  • 2+ production or concept car design development projects
  • Excellent communication skills and team management ability
  • Outstanding design perception and strong design development skills
  • Fluent English communication skills preferred

Interior Designer

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for design research, concept design and design output from concept to production release for all the interior and components design projects
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary design targets and provide professional feedback
  • Solve technical issues during the interior and component design processes
  • Have interior engineering and construction knowledge, allowing you to participate in formulating the interior design system and guideline documents

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or above in transportation design, industrial design or related
  • 2+ years of automotive interior design or related work experience
  • Familiar with interior design and details design processes
  • Familiar with interior design and details design production constraints
  • Strong innovative thinking and knowledge of current interior design trends
  • Good interdisciplinary coordination skills
  • Fluent English communication skills preferred

Clay Model Senior Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the team to develop full-sized components and clay models
  • Mentor modelers in sculpting techniques, and improve the professional skills of the team
  • Responsible for team-building and knowledge engineering construction of clay modelling
  • Participate in the sustained capacity-building projects of the team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or above in transportation design or related
  • 10+ years of work experience in clay modelling, experience in at least one well-known OEM or design company preferred
  • Deep understanding of whole car clay model development process, with excellent project management and quality control skills, and excellent clay and hard modelling skills
  • Good communication skills, self-motivated and well-organised, passionate, proactive, cautious and cooperative
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Fluent English communication skills preferred

- Shanghai, China -

GAC Advanced Design Shanghai was established in 2018. Situated in a vibrant metropolis with diverse culture and design resources, the Shanghai studio is keen to attract China’s most creative car design professionals, to focus on advanced design research and concept design studies, and to make a design impact on GAC’s future products.

Design Director

Responsibilities:

  • Report to Design VP and responsible for running the studio development plan from HQ
  • Manage and organise all the design projects of exterior and interior design, UI/UX and CMF from concept research to production release
  • Manage effective implementation of design tasks including brand identity, design strategy, quality control and solving technical issues
  • Recommend and implement training and development plans for subordinates

Qualifications:

  • Interdisciplinary automotive design management skills and successful brand design planning and developing experience
  • Strong innovative thinking, research and strategy planning skills
  • Design visionary with outstanding judgment and design quality control ability
  • Strong communication, team coordination and team building skills

Creative Designer

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for design research, concept design and design output from concept to production release for all exterior, interior and component design projects

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or above in transportation design, industrial design or related
  • Strong innovative thinking and knowledge of current design trends
  • Strong 2D and 3D skills
  • Good interdisciplinary coordination skills
  • Fluent English presentation and communication skills preferred

Established in 2017 in Newport Beach, California, GAC Advanced Design Center Los Angeles is home to some of the most forward-thinking professionals in the car industry. As GAC’s first global satellite design studio, it provides a tremendous opportunity to create futuristic, cutting edge and avant-garde designs with a fresh, innovative, out-of-the-box approach. The Design Center also serves as a production studio to provide creative support for GAC Design in China and a trend research post for the American market as well as global design trends on behalf of GAC.

Exterior/Interior Designers

Responsibilities:

  • Develop next-gen exterior and interior design philosophy and form language
  • Design and execute exterior and interior design for concept cars and future GAC products
  • Contribute to shape the brand strategy of existing and future GAC products

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or above in transportation design, industrial design or related
  • Second-to-none sketching and visual communication skills
  • Knowledgeable in automotive design process from sketching to manufacturing
  • Proficient in various 2D & 3D design softwares
  • All levels of experience in automotive design
  • 3+ years of automotive OEM studio experience preferred
  • Experience in autonomous and EV programmes preferred

Digital Sculptor 3D Design

Responsibilities:

  • Work with designers and engineers to create exterior and interior surface models for concept cars, production vehicles and other future mobility projects
  • Quickly build high quality concept models for visualization and virtual reality
  • Organise and prepare data for milling, 3D printing and other rapid prototyping methods

Qualifications:

  • Highly skilled with Alias software
  • Knowledge of other related software (CATIA, VRED, etc...)
  • Quick concept modelling skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Complete understanding of the design process
  • Solid grasp of quality build processes for production
