The winners of the have been announced at a ceremony on the GMC stand at the Detroit Motor Show. This year's winners will each receive a three-month paid internship at GM's Tech Center in Warren, Michigan.
from Art Center College of Design won the Cadillac interior brief with her entry, the 2035 Cadillac PRX. Also from Art Center, , won an internship for his winning entry to the Cadillac exterior brief with his EPX-V racing car.
was the third winner from Art Center College of Design, taking the Sculpting brief with her speedform for a new Buick design language.
New for this year, the product design brief was won by from North Carolina State University. The brief asked for the designer to create a GM drone, and Kim's GMC furniture delivery vehicle was judged the best in this category.
Also awarded was a 'One to Watch' prize for an entry that showed outstanding potential. Given by event partner Dinamica, from Lawrence Technological University took the award.
The CDN and GM contest is now in its fifth year. It encourages student designers in the USA and Canada to take on briefs set by GM's design team. The contest is operated via a dedicated website, , which allows students and mentors from GM to comment on designs as they're uploaded. This year, 111 design students entered the contest, making 1292 submissions to the website. Over 1700 comments were left on posts on the site.
The competition is made up of phases that allow mentors to choose the work that has the most potential, slowly whittling down the entrants until an elite group of finalists are chosen. For this edition of the contest, those chosen for the final phase had to take on a face-to-face interview with top GM design executives before the winners were decided.
