There’s no such thing as too much power, according to Maserati who launched a frankly silly 590-odd horsepower version of their Levante SUV, called the Trofeo, at the New York show.
Styling-wise it was straight out of the aftermarket performance accessory catalogue – matt paintwork, huge brightly-coloured brake callipers, contrast seat stitching and bits of carbon fibre all made an appearance.
Not the subtlest thing ever, but its intended audience (oil-rich princelings, oligarchs’ offspring, hip-hop moguls) will almost certainly not care. Subtle? Is there an Italian word for that?
