Saturn Vue

17 November 2007

At Geneva in March this year the Chevrolet brand unveiled the Captiva SUV, two months later Opel presented the Antara and now Saturn is debuting the Vue in LA. They are all the same car bar minor design differences, the most obvious for the new Vue being the grille and lamp inserts.

2008 BMW X5

17 November 2007

The original BMW X5 was a milestone car in two ways: it was the first performance-orientated SUV that subsequent premium brands have followed, and it was the first BMW SUV.

The original Audi TT coupe was first shown as a concept car in 1995 which was then followed in 1996 by the TTS, a concept car preview of the cabriolet version, which featured memorable orange-brown leather seats with baseball glove style leather stitching.

Honda Step Bus

17 November 2007

The Step Bus is an unusual concept; it uses the main structure and exterior form of the super small Japanese kei-class market Acty van (which means it is just 1475mm wide and 3395mm long) and has a tiny three cylinder engine mounted below the floor just ahead of the rear axle.

Giugiaro Mustang

17 November 2007

Presented by Fabrizio Guigiaro and Jay Mays, this Mustang based one-off is a clever way for Ford to gain some useful publicity for the Mustang brand when the car is approaching its mid-life point and both GM and DaimlerChrysler are speedily preparing production versions of the pony car coupes they presented earlier this year in Detroit as concepts.

Volkswagen Concept Tiguan

17 November 2007

Making its international debut at LA is the Tiguan, a concept preview of a compact production SUV crossover due in about twelve months. Based on the Golf platform (or more specifically the European market only Golf Plus platform), the Tiguan was previewed in part by the Concept A shown in Geneva earlier this year that is much the same design forward of the A-pillar.

Hyundai HCD10 Hellion

17 November 2007

From the press photos this car looked uncomfortable, odd even. But it's clear when seeing the HCD10 Hyundai Hellion in the flesh that, whilst a "polarising design" according to Chief Designer Joel Piaskowski, it's a very appealing car that attracted a lot of positive feedback at the show. It is also a very innovative concept car design with a lot of valuable ideas.
